Windows 8 Metro UI on Android?

android.pngWant to check out Windows 8's Metro UI on your Android device? Well, if you have the right product you can do so right now... kind of. A developer has created a way to make a custom theme for a couple of Android-based tablets that looks and operates much like Microsoft's new user experience.

The developer, "Brobot175", has launched a website (via Gottabemobile.com) that goes into more detail on how he created this Metro theme for Android. The above video shows how the Metro theme looks running on a Android tablet, in this case the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The developer says that he has even put in some elements of the Windows Phone UI in his Android Metro theme.

At the moment, the theme can only be run on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Asus Transformer tablets but "BroBot175" says that he is looking to add support for more Android tablets in the future. He has a few working widgets as well with promises of more to come. In the meantime you can check on his progress on the XDA-Developers.com forums. Keep in mind, though, that this is a third party theme for Android so you might want to make a backup of your device before installing it.
