Windows 8 Start button isn't coming back...

The Start button won't be coming back, no matter how much detractors of Windows 8's new user interface would like it to. But to make the new operating system easier to understand for mouse and keyboard users, it will contain a tutorial to explain how things work.
Windows 8 Start button isn't coming back , but there will be a tutorial

Microsoft looked at Win 7 and asked themselves: "How can we force users to actually help us make money?"

Engineer #1: "Well, we could design a program called Metro that users can run by going to the Start menu."

Engineer's boss: "No, that's not intrusive enough. People that don't want to be spammed will avoid it. That's it! The Start Menu WILL be Metro! Almost everyone uses this and if we make Metro here instead, people WILL click on to it!"

Lots of luck with Linux or Mac. You will love that there are few programs available to do what you want to do. At least you will not get confused - although in Linux I am not sure. You can even get confused if there is only 1 program.

How can you possibly say "You will love that there are few programs available to do what you want to do" have you ever looked through a repository for a virtually any distribution? Failing that you have Cedega/Wine.

Linux is not a difficult Operating System to use, in some ways it's easier than Windows, especially with regard to adding and updating applications. Granted, there are areas where things could be a lot better and it doesn't help having so many different distributions, but for day to day usage it's really not hard.

I'm slowly but surely finding my ways in Linux. Trying to edit my hosts file and etc/samba/smb.conf file was getting me a little wild because of permissions. (I just wanted to right click them and take ownership. grrrrr) Luckily, I now know su, sudo though.

I assume you've already found chown and chmod However, if you really want, You can also use virtually any of the 'modern' file managers to perform most permission/owner type tasks.

Confuse ? look everything is on the desktop, and when you open something, at least you know where it gone open

even the start menu is well organize , where is the confusing part, even a quit button

And what to say about the easy access to all the documents, 1 click only

    Just installed Pingy.

Boots up really fast. Fastest i have seen on this machine.

Looks great - most stuff is easy to find.

Start menu is well organised, too.

The average user can do all they need straight out of the box.

When I get the time - intend to find out more about it.

Hi! I was wondering if the Start button will ever return to Windows 8?
I got a new computer with Windows 8. I put the Classic Shell on. It skips the worthless Metro interface and goes right to the desktop. Some observations. The Aero Glass interface is gone. Some guy has come up with a work around but I am a little jumpy about trying that. The "new look" 8...

Get your start button back in Customization
Get your start button back Well, there is no need to fret about that anymore. Thanks to a heads-up from okorsal, we can show you a simple Registry tweak that will restore the familiar Windows Desktop complete with the Windows 7-style Start Menu. (Thanks also to geek.com for publishing the tweak.)...
I find the new Windows 8 "start" lack the hierarchical organisation. After I installed a view programs the "start" page just become a big pile of mess. I would like to get the start button on the desktop. Is there a way to do it?
