I would imagine it would be easy for MS to release a furher update to uninstall these from all machines. To the best of my knowledge that has not happened. Why ?

    Thanks for posting that, gator2013.

Although anyone should do what they think is best, I decided to experiment and keep all the updates.

    Update:

It's been 19 days, use it for hours on end, multiple reboots, shutdowns every night with exception of a few, and yesterday ran a DISM just for grins without any report of problems.

Perhaps it's "older Acer karma" or perhaps because I don't use any 3rd party tweaking or maintenance programs. I dunno.

Open Windows Update history > Installed Updates > Press desired updates to uninstall > Press uninstall. Not trying to be a smart a**, but how difficult is that?

    Edit:

Corrected the path in bold and how to uninstall.

Problem is that not everybody even knows about the update, let alone how to uninstall it and by than it might be late.

    From the article:
"Microsoft recommends that users uninstall last week's update -- even if their machines are working fine"

Is there an instance where Microsoft actually says this officially?
I have been searching and can't find any mention of this from Microsoft. I see where Microsoft does recommend uninstalling if you have the KB2982791 "shortcut font" BSOD issue.

For those whose computers are working happily... what happens if you come across a webpage or document that contains one of the offending fonts?

(I genuinely don't know the answer to this; maybe it will all be fine...)

I was thinking that if there is a real problem with these updates, then what about all the PC's of the masses, those who wouldn't have a clue what or where to look to resolve the issue.

I don't know the full extent of this either.

But I have read that if you install a program that installs fonts in a different folder other than the system font folder and then places shortcuts in the system font folder to the installed program's fonts location then a BSOD will/may occur on reboot.

I saw that one of these programs may be Photoshop Elements. I still have KB2982791 installed with a daily backup image waiting in case of a BSOD or whatever. lol

Well, it seems Mooly is sharp enough to keep up on things, but they do have an uninstaller. It’s been there for as long as I remember. That’s not to brag that I knew that and perhaps he (or she) didn’t.

Overall it would be a good idea that MS would notify users of bad updates for sure. Not all people read tech news, especially the commoner. Perhaps through Action Center, although that’s not a direct means on communication that I know of. Perhaps upon finalizing an installation or upon first use of an OEM machine for option to join an email list?

One of the downfalls of mankind is lack of communication, misunderstood communication, or downright lying.

“What are you hiding in those aid convoy trucks you sent into our country?” > “Errr….nothing.”

Should I or should I not uninstall those 4 updates or what???
