I'll have to check my wife's laptop and my other desktop PC to see what got installed on those. I know the optional update didn't but I'm not sure about the others. They were updates right around the time Microsoft started pulling some of the updates. I had no issues before or after but why temp fate I guess.
After I uninstalled the 4 updates known causing so much headache to majority, I think mine has too got off

The laptop is getting charged again as usual, power led has started changing from white to amber on charging & the laptop is getting charged - tried both system off & on!

I have tried to reproduce the situations that caused the problem previously when the led was always white & lap didn't charge at all, but now to my surprise nothing of an issue has arise till now - its been 12 hours..

Any ideas why charging were blocked previously?

I have not done any change at all after the update was installed up to today when the 4 updates where uninstalled.

    Its really a big relief...
I'm relieved that you solved your charging problem, but I'm baffled as to how a windows update could cause it in the first place. That's a new one on me.

Does Windows really don't interfere at all in any way in the charging?

If this is a new issue you both have come across regarding Windows updates,
I wish someone could help me try out in explaining this situation .,

hoping it 'll not recur anymore !

I am having this same issue, it has so far costed me almost $120.00 on a new asus laptop I paid $252 for to figure out that this issue is something to do with one of the windows updates.... Please let me know if there is a solution since I have no state to roll back to because the machine was only a few weeks old.

A new PC will probably have a "Factory Restore" option that will put it all back to "out of the box state". It should be detailed in the user manual (which is probably also installed as a pdf on your HDD) or if not then from the manufacturers website.

That will wipe everything clean and allow you to start again. Remember to back up your user files and so on first though because you loose everything.

    Hey guys,

A very thanks to all forum members here,

Its been two days after the 4 updates were uninstalled & I didn't get the Power/battery issue since then,

So, its almost confirmed it was the Updates that caused the issue,

Since this was a new kind of problem nobody expected ,
& when I got assistance from HP Engineer , he went systematically troubleshooting it & concluded it to be hardware issue related to board/power connector/chip,

I see that reporting this issue to Microsoft (I don't know whether they'll ear into this) would be helpful to any other who'll be facing it ,

I say this because the standard procedure for this kind of issue only recommends hardware issue & disassembly - replacement of some of the parts , which would be a total inconvenience & hardship to consumers,

I hope MSFT takes note of this issue somehow - Can I get this issue into their notice somehow don't know how many out there get to know this issue is actually related to the Updates - if at all they get this issue and since most of the systems would be having Windows Updates to "Automatic" I don't feel anybody will think like I tried (Uninstalling updates and observing issue to recur), - any ideas?

Only just seen this thread, I've just checked my update history and I have the updates installed and I've not had any problems, they would have been installed when they came out.

This is on an Asus K55A Notebook running 8.1.1 with 8GB RAM.

Same here, Joan. Installed and running good. Karma must be with us, I guess.

I mark Update Tuesday on my calendar. Perhaps you'll want to do the same.

visruth, it was a coincidence. Your MB broke coinciding with Update Tuesday. That is all. The only software that could break a system is OCing because of heat.

Yes HippsieGypsie - I don't know anything of what happened while I updated
I take it as a coincidence
    a bad Karma

I still don't know how it came alright after uninstalling

Not going to bother much about it, its been resolved now

No more updates anymore without reviews

I didn't OC my lap, actually don't know how can I do that in this OEM lap - no BIOS settings seen here

    Thanks for the concerns
