Is it just that simple to remove the 3 listed updates that Microsoft is recommending? Or do I have to do all those other steps of deleting the font file, and registries?

Between the issues that occurred from upgrading from 8 to 8.1 with drivers, and now this problem it's almost comical now.

Find and then uninstall any of the following update that are currently installed:
    o KB2982791
    o KB2970228
    o KB2975719
    o KB2975331

I don't have the 331 or 228 update. I have corrected the issue that I had with the other 2. Should I un install the 791 and 719? (opinions)
I went ahead and uninstalled the 791 and 719 update, just as a precautionary. I checked for updates again after a reboot, there were none.

I have neither 331 nor 228 in the installed updates.

    Uninstalled 719 & 791 , rebooted - no more windows updates available.

I've also uninstalled KB2982791 and KB2975719 on my laptop and desktop. I didn't see KB2970228 or KB2975331 listed on either PC. I'll have to check my wife's laptop and my other desktop PC to see what got installed on those. I know the optional update didn't but I'm not sure about the others. They were updates right around the time Microsoft started pulling some of the updates. I had no issues before or after but why temp fate I guess.

After I uninstalled the 4 updates known causing so much headache to majority, I think mine has too got off

The laptop is getting charged again as usual, power led has started changing from white to amber on charging & the laptop is getting charged - tried both system off & on!

I have tried to reproduce the situations that caused the problem previously when the led was always white & lap didn't charge at all, but now to my surprise nothing of an issue has arise till now - its been 12 hours..

Any ideas why charging were blocked previously?

I have not done any change at all after the update was installed up to today when the 4 updates where uninstalled.

    Its really a big relief...

I've decided to live on the edge and experiment with keeping the updates installed having a pryor restore point saved and mirror made if need be. Might be crazy I know, but all has been well since last Tuesday.

I'm relieved that you solved your charging problem, but I'm baffled as to how a windows update could cause it in the first place. That's a new one on me.

I think the Update fiasco that happened to me would be one of the worst kind, - battery doesn't charge anyway whatsoever - goes on draining, power led is always white indicating full charge, laptop works on ac alone plugged with no battery, no error message like 'plugged in, not charging', did all the standard troubleshooting of battery, ac adapter & board failures as much as I can ....still no change : was struggling with single digit battery % & then I immediately did uninstall of the four updates - kABOOOM - its charging!

Before this Aug updates, I had made Disc and System Image by AOMEI, Windows utility , created a restore point - thanks to the precious suggestions from this forum reminding me always of an impending doom may occur when Updates go crazy.

But, still as alphanumeric told, how can Windows OS interfere in charging process??

    No idea for me...!

Only thing I see as an even remote possibility is if one of the updates somehow glitched the ACPI software. That would definitely be a new one on me also.
