Cortana integration in Windows 'Threshold' looking likely

Rumors have been circulating for a while that Microsoft is planning to incorporate its personal digital assistant, Cortana, into the next major version of Windows.

On August 11, those rumors turned up a notch, with Neowin.net reporting that internal "dogfood" builds of "Threshold," aka Windows 9, include Cortana integration. Windows Threshold is expected to arrive in the spring of 2015. A public preview of Threshold may be available this fall, according to my sources.

As is the case with Cortana on Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana will be an app, not part of the operating system itself, Neowin's Brad Sams said.

Well at least you can turn Cortana off without any consequences.

LOL! We really never do lose our mothers, do we?

Look at it this way. Having had Cortana on my WP8.1 for awhile, I get to tell her what to do and she doesn't complain or talk back!

All kidding aside, Cortana is a great feature. It really does help me to get and keep more organized. The voice recognition has gotten to be a lot better in fulfilling the tasks she can do.

I can imagine it now > "Cortana, please post this on Windows Eight Forums > Blah, bablah, bablah".

    Oh! And thanks Shawn!

Probably get Cortana on my desktop before I get it on my Verizon phone (Under Testing). If its an app will it work on Win 8.1?

It is an app, for it's listed in All Apps, but only allowed on WP8.1 that I know of. Being AT&T I was allowed to update to GDR1 and get the Cyan firmware update.

I think Cortana is still beta, but not really sure, for it doesn't say that on her screen any longer. I haven't heard of any official release yet.

It'll be interesting to see if it's allowed on 8.1 for PC or other devices or if they'll use it as a lure to upgrade.

Why with all the changes and added features W9 is probably the most anticipated OS ever.
