Cortana integration in Windows 'Threshold' looking likely

  1. #11

I use at least one of my machines to play music. I hope I can at least disable this feature. For me this would be annoying. Lets hope MS give us plenty of options so we can pick and choose features.

I can see this happening on time because Cortana is expected to leave beta mode around spring 2015. Windows 9 is slated for spring 2015.

Also would be interesting to see what we can do with Cortana on the Desktop and modern UIs.

She/it is quite a great feature, especially while driving, for now we have to be hands free by law in my state. Having just performed some more research I found a "wake by voice" app: Wake Up your PC using Cortana?Voice Wake. I'll surely be buying the full version and installing.

She/it can perform some functions one can do manually. Make a note or appointment added to the calendar. Open apps or items like contacts > text or call a contact > Tell you the weather for today or the week. She/it is limited to a certain apps ability. e.g. I can have it open a navigation app, but it or the app needs voice recognition to command it, however I see a day that will come.

Having been 17 years old to debut "2001: A Space Odyssey" I thought I'd never see the day in my lifetime I'd be talking to a computer or even a phone! Didn't even think I'd own both! Main frames at that time were huge and of course"radio phones" were for James Bond.

What i'd like to see is a way for all the pc/phone/tablets to know when I say turn the volume down on my Xbox One, or play music on my phone, or when I say switch music play to Xbox.

Just hope computers will be in better mood than HAL, I would hate to become Dave.
