Like all the other companies they put out of business. Like many emperors they will face defeat, the phone market will stay with Android and iPhone and Microsoft will lose credibility in the OS market. this is Waterloo 8
What are you even here for if you hate Microsoft and Windows so much? Just to troll and make trouble?

Trouble ?, well the majority of peoples don't like Windows 8. I don't hate Microsoft, actually I love Microsoft since the start, I even offer only Microsoft solution for Virtualization, many use Vmware. It’s the stupid Metro thing I hate. Windows 8 will be a great OS if some lunatic at MS will not try to make us digest the Metro because they don't sell in the phone market. Last time I check, in my country we have free right of expression.

When I installed I didn't get any alerts that i didn't have antivirus, so I completely forgot about installing some.

I was completely surprised when I was exploring and found that Defender was acting as an antivirus.

They really need to promote this feature more. Too many people will be duped into buying Norton or something.

They should have renamed it. Alot of people think it's just the anti spyware version that was in previous windows.

"Defender" is still a fairly apt name. I think Microsoft doesn't want to draw too much attention to it, otherwise AV companies will complain and MS will get another antitrust suite.

Defender does nothing. I prefer a paid antivirus solution, such as Avast IS 7.

This was posted to let everyone know that if they or anyone posts with a problem installing MSE on Win8, you will know the reason why.

During a quick search on the subject, it was mentioned that MSE doesn't work correctly when installed on Win8. Meaning it may not be protecting your system as it normally would on previous OSs.

Since MS has made the new Defender basically the same as MSE (and compatible) on the Win8 version and they have an update to block MSE from being installed, leads me to believe that there is an issue with MSE when installed on Win8.

Those of you that installed MSE should consider un-installing it and enabling Defender-8 or install another Win8 compatible anti-virus protection program.

There was a post on a MS site explaining how to re-install enable Defender-8, if I find it again I will post it here.

    Edit:
If you uninstall any anti-virus app, you should be able to enable Defender through the control panel.

Windows defender seems solid enough to me. I can't see the point in using another anti-virus.
