Well that is one way... I prefer to run VMWare for games, if needed... it has been a while since I ran a linux machine, but when I did I was not impressed with Wine (though it is getting better), I think the only thing I used it for was Netflix (that too may have changed)

All this talk about Windows 8.1 being great is completely pointless if Microsoft don't fix the shockingly blurry font rendering API used in Internet Explorer and Office 2013.

Until that is fixed, and ALL users see clear text on their screens, it can't possibly be called a "great OS".

Hmmmm, no blurry text here (ok maybe a bit in IE,small fonts) but didn't see any in Office 2013 Pro and my monitors are not exactly top of the line.

Same here, Count. This is not a global issue as some claim, otherwise everyone would have the problem. It is liken to the non-sleep issue. It it system specific. What may fix one system may not fix anther.

Well, even small size fonts are blurry on even not what you could call high-dpi display these days - 1366x768 @ 15,4".

I am under impression that smaller fonts get blurry easier but larger ones are subject to aliasing, which along with more aggressive anti-aliasing may get somewhat blurry or with edges not clearly defined. I have been doing DTP for some years now and had seen a lot of it.

Most of the people on this forum who love W8 are geeks and can get it to run to their satisfaction. And for the simple minded who just want to go on Facebook, or get the weather report, it also works OK. But for the tweens, who make up the vast majority, and just want an OS thatís simple and effective to use straight out of the box ...for hobby or serious work Ö it just doesnít cut it.

It was ill conceived, prematurely released, and has been back to the repair shop so many times it would make any self-respecting car manufacturer blush.

It started with W8, then a 3GB upgrade to 8.1, which could not be downloaded and saved, for those who were silly enough to buy the OEM shop version on disc Ö meaning moi!

And then, if you were even more stupid and bought the 8.1OEM disc from a retailer, (when will I ever learn!), to avoid having to download 3GB every time you wanted a clean install Ö then voila, another 2 massive updates of approx 2.5GB and IGB via Windows Updater. And now another one on the horizon Ö and itís still not right!

Hell you guys on this forum should be paid by Microsoft as developers and programmers.
