    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64 bit), Linux Mint 17.1 MATE (64 bit)

Perhaps it does depend on the hardware

    Mine isn't - I don't mind - I wasn't expecting it to be at this stage.

Strange how a few people think it is.

On my PC it seems to be about the same speed as W7.
Windows Explorer is possibly more responsive.

It definitely uses less RAM (800 MB vs 1200 MB).

Somehow my primary disk was heavily fragmented after a clean install. It wasn't running well at all at that moment. But after it finished indexing and defragmentating it started to show its snappiness. It uses less resources and handles RAW files way better in Lightroom/Photoshop than Win7. Gaming performance seems to be equal to that of Win7.

Great - I am looking forward to seeing those things in the final version.

Shame they cripple it with the ghastly Metro thing.

I am having a few issues with it atm - a lot of things are quite slow - some of my apps. ( I made myself ) won't run - I think it might be overenthusiastic security.

Hoping they will have sorted that out in the final.

My sound used to work in the consumer preview fine but since I upgraded to the Release Preview I need the volume max and headphones in to hear anything. Any help appreciated. If more info is needed just ask.
