    Windows 8.1 Update 2 Confirmed

Microsoft has already rolled out Windows 8.1 Update, but the company is now working on a second pack of improvements that could be released sometime this year and brings several improvements to the modern platform.

According to new details that reached the web this morning, Microsoft is already working on Windows 8.1 Update 2, which is another sign that this OS version is very likely to hit the shelves in just a few months.

Microsoft has already confirmed at the BUILD 2014 developer conference that it's working on a second update for Windows 8.1, but only a few details have actually been confirmed.

Windows 8.1 Update 2 will come with a new Start menu that would try to make the modern operating system a bit more familiar and thus bring back the full functionality of the desktop available in all Windows versions before Windows 8.

I hope that this update is optional (doubtful) or that the new Start Menu is optional

Nope, not for me. I already had to roll back update 1, I'll be damned if I'll be trying that nonsense. I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope for the best with win 9. Frankly, 8.1 worked fine for me before the update, and rolling back the update fixed my issue, so it's all good again. There is no valid reason that I can see whereby I would NEED to update before 9 comes out.

I scanned the article and it seems very interesting to me. Judging by the image below if that's what the update 2 will provide I really would want it.

And so far Update One is working just fine for me. MS is heading in the right direction with Windows.

why did you have to roll back? what issues did you have. Update 1 works great for me and all the systems I have loaded it on.

It could also be Flash more than update one. Heck, it could also be an issue with Firefox.
The reason I think this is that I've had issues with flash in the past and along comes an update and the issue goes away.

It could have been many things, but it wasn't. I would get the error msg before... maybe once a week or so, but after the update it was all day, every day. So I did some other things to fix the issue first.

Indeed, I did every conceivable fix first. Rolled back Cyberfox. Dumped Cyberfox and went to Firefox. Rolled back Flash player trying half a dozen or so older versions. Dumped half my extensions.... nothing worked.

Finally last evening before the game(game 6, Habs Bruins, 4-0 Montreal) I uninstalled every update back thru April... all except 1 which wouldn't uninstall.

At any rate, just a fast as its onset, the issue is now gone. One can draw their own conclusions.

You did cover all of your bases and I would also assume that the update did mess up somehow.
Oh and I can't wait for game 7.. Go B'S!!
