    Windows 8.1 Update Requirement Extended

Wow! I canít believe itís been almost a month since we released the Windows 8.1 Update. Over the last few weeks, people with Automatic Update turned on in Windows Update have been receiving the Windows 8.1 update on their devices. Itís been great seeing and hearing from people enjoying all the new improvements.

While we believe the majority of people have received the update, we recognize that not all have. Having our customers running their devices with the latest updates is super important to us. And weíre committed to helping ensure their safety. As a result, weíve decided to extend the requirement for our consumer customers to update their devices to the Windows 8.1 Update in order to receive security updates another 30 days to June 10th. As noted previously, consumer customers who do not update their Windows 8.1 devices to the Windows 8.1 Update by this new deadline will no longer receive updates. Weíre confident that within the next month, the majority of the remaining customers who havenít updated their devices to the Windows 8.1 Update will be able to do so.

If you run into any issues installing the Windows 8.1 Update on your device, I suggest checking out this article or posting about your issue on our Windows community forums where we have support folks who can help you troubleshoot your issues.

If you are an enterprise customer or partner, please see this blog post from the Springboard Series Blog for all the details on deploying the Windows 8.1 Update in your company.

We appreciate the feedback you have given us and continue to actively listen so that we can deliver the best Windows experiences possible.
