Skype for Modern Windows 2.8: Getting Easier to Use

We have released a new version of Skype for modern Windows. We’ve been focused on making the application easier to use.

There’s a tighter feel to the hub – the modern Skype is designed for touch but we know a lot of our users have mouse and keyboard devices. As a result we are tightening the space between your latest recent conversations, which brings forward the contacts list and makes navigation easier.

It starts up faster – we made a few changes in the background so that Skype loads more quickly on your Windows 8.1 device.

We also made favorites syncing more reliable across devices. Now as you move from one device to another, your favorites list follows you.

Supported operating systems: Windows 8.1.

Take a look at the latest Skype features and a get free upgrade to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8.0.

Maybe they should make the Windows Store sinkable too! What is wrong with going to a website and being able to chose the software you want. I don't want to be told that the crappy Skype software came with 8.1 and you can install it from the Window Store. Do I need to re-install Windows 7 before I am allowed to download the version I want?

Where is this Skype for modern Windows 2.8? Is that the crappy software that the store wants to install? The Windows store does not show version numbers. It does show user reviews and they are not good.

At least the website allowed me to download Skye for desktop.
