Microsoft reissues botched Windows 8.1 Update KB 2919355

Microsoft announced, moments ago, that it has re-released Windows 8.1 Update -- note the capital "U" -- and the new version should avoid the error 80073712 plaguing so many customers. If you haven't yet installed Windows 8.1 Update and can't see the new KB 2919355, wait a few hours for it to roll out the update chute. If you have successfully installed Windows 8.1 Update, you shouldn't see anything.

"Not see anything? What does that mean exactly? That the update installed correctly and no changes are required? If the first one was so botched, why not wonder if users who got it installed don't still have messed up pc's? Haven't they read the posts on Google about many users with Windows Store Applications being messed up? Did it correct that? I am amazed at the ineptness of Microsoft in handling this fiasco!

Tried it and seems it does not work if the store was screwed up by the previous KB2919355 where "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" reports error 0x800f081f.

Spent too much time on this. Already gone down the path of all the possible fixes including restoring a backup from Feb to only have the store corrupted when attempting the older KB2919355 install yet again.

Think I'll wait until some success is shown with the new one or better still if MS comes up with a patch to fix the corrupted store KB2919355 caused without having to go back and reinstall all software changes since last backup.

What a mess.

WU has already installed at least three KB2919355 patches on my system. So, I read this article, decide to look for new updates, and guess what!?

I'm notified an important update is available [KB2962140] and tell WU to install. Immediate reaction from system: update not needed.

So, if it wasn't needed, why did it show up? Curiosity killed the ferret . . . again . . .

It's for Juniper Networks client

That's the problem with WU - it pushes through updates indiscriminately - got a huge Office update recently for Visio and other stuff that's not even installed ... go figure...?

Yep, that seems to be what's happened on my end too, Nuccii! Strange stuff, to say the least. I tried two or three times to install, but it wouldn't until the Windows Defender update showed.

Yeah, this whole 8.0, 8.1, 8.1 update 1 is such a joke. I think MS is pushing more people away than they are gaining with improvements.

Just wondering does Windows 8.1 Update 1 include the mouse lag fix update issued out in late 2013?

Link to the update fix: Mouse pointer stutters or freezes when you play certain games in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2

I'm unsure if I still need to apply the update to Windows 8.1 Update 1 as I've not installed or played any 3rd party games on my laptop yet.
Make backup image, try and see, who knows what those "bright minds" have in store except surprises for unsuspecting public.
