Windows 7 Home Premium on 2 Windows 8.1 on 1

Updated with no issues. Duh, I realized I could customize the Start screen to get it to look like it will for new users. Added the 4 tiles, did some resizing and voila the same as if I was creating a new user.

Me too, i did it on 5 machines, no problems at all
i am wondering if the 2 laptops are the same manufacturer? If so maybe there is a driver issue that they both use, brummyfan?

Hi Robin. Pick an item in File Explorer > Right click for context menu > Choose "Pin to Start". Or while on Start Screen type what you want > Right click > Choose "Pin to Start". Resize in Start Screen options. Pick tile > Space bar.

Most of the programs installed are in the All Apps screen (down arrow), could be pinned to Start from there too. Same goes for system function ones.

That did the trick. Loving it now. I feel dumb for not figuring this out myself. :)

    Hi Robin,
Yes both my laptops are Acer, this update was very painful for me, I had to re-install and update through the Store and everything works fine except few drivers need to be updated, I tried to avoid re-installation but everything failed, I couldn't understand why FF works in both laptops but IE11 refused to respond, I have left my older laptop with only FF working at the moment as I don't use that often.

Yeah, they flipped it around in 8.1. In 8.0 Program Icons got installed to the main Start Screen and it got crowded pretty quick. You would spend a lot of time unpinning what you didn't want. Now in 8.1 Program Icons get put on the All Apps secondary screen. Then you just pin the couple you actually use to the main Start Screen. It works for me.

As the title says upon checking for Updates I am getting Codes 801901F7 or 80072EE2 or 80072EFD which I believe is a problem with connecting with the MS server. Have ran the Troubleshooters, Reset, cleared the Cache, SFC and DISM, all reporting no problems. No connection problems either.
