First lets check for sure. Right click on Start button and select Program and Features, then on left side select View Installed Updates.
When the list opens go to top right and enter KB2919442 in the search box and see if it is there. They may have the update servers turned off until the new stuff is ready. It may show up when they turn them back on. If not I believe you can download that update manually and install it. Let us know what the search shows.

    Whewww! There it be.

Question: Why, when I went to Windows Update and clicked on installed updates, didn't it show it? There's a very short list there, and mostly it's Defender installs.
That may only show what was installed through Windows Update after your w8.1 install date. The last updates were released on March 11 so if you installed w8.1 after that date, they may have been installed during the initial install. Just a guest. but the good news is it was there.

Brink, I've checked and I don't have KB2919442 on my machine. I have had Windows 8.1 installed only about a week or so. I also checked for updates this morning and it shows none are available.

    What do I do now?
    Hello Wynona,

The updates are usually available at noon on Patch Tuesdays for me, so you might check again in about an hour.
Thanks, Brink. I stand corrected; however it seems that depending on where one goes; Windows Update>View Update History vs Right Click on Start Button>Programs and Features>View Installed Updates, a different list is shown for each method.

Of course, I've always gone to Windows Update to see if something's been installed, so the correct method (is this new in 8/8.1?) has never been brought to my attention before.

I could be wrong but I think you need to restart your computer for this update to show ?

Or maybe the update is just a late April fools joke ?

Nar, the two different updates lists have always been the same. Think of one as only Windows Update history, and the other to uninstall updates. It would be nice if it was just one list instead though.

And now you know why I'm a hardware tech instead of a software tech! But, thanks to everyone here, I'm learning a lot more than I thought was there, so it's all good.

Thanks to everyone who helped me over a bump in the road that wasn't there in the first place.
