Brink, I've checked and I don't have KB2919442 on my machine. I have had Windows 8.1 installed only about a week or so. I also checked for updates this morning and it shows none are available.

    What do I do now?

Hmmmmm, if Noon PST is the release time, by my Central Standard Time reckoning, it's only 9:00 AM in Redmond, so I guess I'll hurry up and wait.

BTW, looks like even if we live by learning from others' mistakes, this time it won't work. MS says we gotta have this update or else! I can understand the reasoning behind this arbitrary update; however, knowing human nature, I foresee a lot of folks jumping ship and going back to Windows 7, although I probably won't. I've been a beta tester too long, and new stuff just intrigues me.

With that said, looks like you should jump onto the band wagon with the rest of us and just sink or swim.

    Wynona,

First lets check for sure. Right click on Start button and select Program and Features, then on left side select View Installed Updates.
When the list opens go to top right and enter KB2919442 in the search box and see if it is there. They may have the update servers turned off until the new stuff is ready. It may show up when they turn them back on. If not I believe you can download that update manually and install it. Let us know what the search shows.

    Whewww! There it be.

Question: Why, when I went to Windows Update and clicked on installed updates, didn't it show it? There's a very short list there, and mostly it's Defender installs.

Never mind . . . I guess, according to Phone Man, I was looking in the wrong place. He showed me where it is.

    Hello Wynona,

The updates are usually available at noon on Patch Tuesdays for me, so you might check again in about an hour.
