So I have that ISO burned the one with the "update" and did test it to see if it starts, it does work, I just didn't use it cause i wanted to use the usual update method. So I'm wondering, would running that burned ISO install just the update over my 8.1? I don't want a "clean" install, I have too many programs installed.

btw I installed the other 11 updates prior to this big one and they installed OK.
I'm thinking it will give you options. I'd put it in the DVD drive while the computer's running and see what comes up. If what you see scares you, you can back out. Or, if it gives clear and concise instructions for what you want, go for it. I know, easy for me to say!

And this boat's getting a bit crowded . . . I'm still thinking of upgrading to 8.1 Pro, but like you, I have a lot of programs installed and am not too sure Pro's all that much better.
yeah I'm thinkin that may be my next step, I have a full image backup from the other day, which btw I had to restore yesterday morning anyway since I hosed my MBR while removing the HP recovery partition and resizing the C drive, smirks...... the thing was in some sort of re boot cycle, and the screen wouldn't stay on long enough to see what it said. anyway I was back up in time to do the update thing, and like i said the first 11 updates went ok as usual, the update 1 did d/l it was just when it tried to install is where it got stupid. I ran those repair things, and it came back as repaired, when I tried to re run the update it did at least begin, but after a few min it went stupid again. I just ran it again, I decided to hit the "stop install: button, now I wana see what it does if I re start the d/l.

BTW where on the disk is this update d/l too, maybe I can run it manual.

I am having problems installing KB2919355 on one of my Windows 8.1 x64 pc's. I have run SFC Scannow and DISM and no corruption found. There is no malware - per MBAM, HitmanPro, and MRT. I can install Windows Defender updates and all the other Windows Updates today, Pc has no fragmentation. and all Windows Updates have been installed EXCEPT KB2919355. I System Restored pc to just before the point when Windows Updates were installed today and tried again, but that didn't help either. I also tried Clean Boot with no success.

KB2919355 goes through the download and installation procedure, until it get to 99% install and then shows "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing Changes Do not turn off your computer". It then reverses the update and restarts - about a 30 minute task. Windows Event Viewer shows Error 0x800F0922.

Got a job ticket from MS - just spent 3 hours on phone with MS tech - now have black screen with three Remote Procedure pop-ups, no task bar, nothing but the 3 recurring pop-ups. Thank God I had Macrium Reflect backup just before updates Tueday....that's all that saved me. I don't think MS knows what is wrong with KB2919355 - looks like they didn't hae their ducks in a row again!

The public release that should not have been. I'm noticing small things but nothing too drastic so far. Example: in desktop mode, clicking on the wireless signal level icon in tray takes 2-3 seconds for the Networks sidebar to appear. Used to be pretty much instantaneous. Other little similar issues.

After I do it the first time, then much faster. Wait awhile and back to very slow again.

The one that was talked about and listed, I had to get it from some magnet link. took damn near 3 days though due to up and down speeds.

That's not going to let you install just the update by itself. It's going to give you the normal install options that any other Windows 8/8.1 DVD does. You may get an upgrade option but it may do more than just install update 1. Be careful what options you chose so you keep your installed programs and Apps.

I was trying to do this yesterday and it didn't work for me. Do you have to move the mouse in a special way? (Fast or slow?) The Metro apps I tried all seemed to have a scroll bar at the bottom and I wondered if that meant I can't have a Taskbar for them?
I have to move it a bit past the bottom of the screen, just so cursor is not visible at all and it takes about a second to show up, it's not instant.
Thanks for that. I'm not using that PC at the moment, but I'll give it a go tomorrow.

well so I assumed, like I said all I can do is test it, its why I have a full image backup............ if it gives me the same options as it did when I upgraded W7 , where I was able to retain all my programs its OK, if not hell with it. I'm sure some one will find the reason that many are having the update problem only with this update 1. All other updates d/l and install fine.

OK, I reset the IP stack and may have fixed it. Maybe other little tweaks to get everything running smoothly.
