    It's black in Apps screen.
And mine's purple. I have all colors of the rainbow, but no black tiles.

It's been mentioned here: Why I love today’s Windows 8.1 Update. It's simply the way it's working right now

Sorry to hear about your issues but you may have to do a system repair as you may have some corrupt files. Anyway I'd suggest you keep posting in your thread you created on this issue as answers here may get confusing and lost.

nicosxm, might be a good idea to make a post in the forum so your issue doesn't get lost here

So, I guess it's different strokes . . . and all that rot.

I was following the thread of those that get the ISOs via MSDN and TechNet. Unless I was reading it wrong, no one knew how to turn that feature off, so I was dreading going into the update. Then reading that we have to install for future security updates. Admittedly I let it get get the best of me.

All's better now with Brink's tute and a good nights sleep.

You liking it better I take it?
I haven't really had time to check it out thoroughly, Hippsie; I updated the Windows 8 Pro lappy late last night, and have a very strange effect going on . . . it updated from 8.0 to 8.1.1! I'm waiting until the end of the thread to post about it, though.

I don't use the third party start menus, so Win 8.1.1 is pretty much default for now. Except I immediately deleted the Store icon! Nothing is pinned to my task bar, since I have the QuickLaunch and Programs toolbars; what's not on QuickLaunch, I can find in the Programs toolbar. Other than that . . . nothing special yet.

Corner navigation was there before because I used it to turn the stupid thing off awhile back! Taskbar has nothing pinned to it; I use QuickLaunch and Programs toolbars.

Stop it! Don't think of yourself like that! We can't know it all, otherwise there wouldn't be forums.

Alphanumeric is a king of multiple monitors. I don't read about too many others posting about it, but that doesn't mean there are others.

I'm sure Brink or others have tutes on the subject. I'm desiring to get a video card to do so.
Not enough room on my desk, or I'd have multiple monitors, but since I have a 23" monitor, I can push what I'm working on and my reference material to half-screen, which works for the most part. Room's not big enough, or I'd build a wider desk.

My update arrived 4/8 at 5:00 P.M. EDT. At first Windows Update said 'no new updates'. But when I clicked on 'check for updates...there they were. See attached

    Windows 8.1

Strange anomaly here. I had installed Windows 8 Pro on my Lappy awhile back, but never updated it to Windows 8.1 Pro. Last night, I started the process and updated to Windows 8.1 Pro through the MS Store. Since it was after midnight when the update was finished, I shut down and went to bed.

This morning I checked for updates and there were a couple or three, so I installed them. KB9219355 was not among the updates; however, everything looked the same as the Windows 8.1.1 update I installed on my desktop computer earlier last night!

So, I immediately right clicked on the Start Icon>Programs and Features and searched for KB9219355, and it is not listed as an installed update. I went back and double-checked to be sure I hadn't mistyped, but it's still not there.

It's my understanding that Windows 8.1 must be installed before the Windows Update 8.1.1 will install.

    I am completely baffled.

Anyone have an idea for installing this update ?
    I'm not getting any responses to my other thread;
    Some updates were not installed

I have no idea what else to try.

The only thing I can offer is to install them one-at-a-time and leave KB9219355 until last. I think it was AntsPants who advised to do this . . .
