Hello! Just downloaded and installed update 1 through windows update with no problems. It seems to run fine. But wasn't Windows supposed to shrink? I always do a cleanup (including system and windows update) after doing a windows update and I've actually lost almost a gig. It's no problem but i like the thought of windows being more lightweight. Maybe that's for the next update which also brings back the start menu.

Yes, those are the ones. Gawd! There ruining Modern/Metro by polluting it with traditional crap! At least they're hidden and I'm not a mouser, so I won't see them much, but just to know they're there makes me nauseous.

Then look at this! A task Bar on my Start Screen!!! %#*$!!!! And I keep mine to the right. I have been for years! The task Bar over the Charms bar!!! OMG!!...uck...uck...Excuse me....uck...uck....I must needs go throw up!

Tell us how you really feel, Hippsie! I know how you feel, though, because I require a completely clean desktop with nothing showing on it. I absolutely abhor the Metro Interface! That's why I like the taskbar finally showing up and the Xes to be able to get rid of what I didn't intend to open in the first place.

So, I guess it's different strokes . . . and all that rot.

    Yes, different strokes.

I was following the thread of those that get the ISOs via MSDN and TechNet. Unless I was reading it wrong, no one knew how to turn that feature off, so I was dreading going into the update. Then reading that we have to install for future security updates. Admittedly I let it get get the best of me.

All's better now with Brink's tute and a good nights sleep.

You liking it better I take it?

I found a lot of settings are able to be turned off in various places in PC settings that I don't recall being there before, corner navigation (thank god) and taskbar apps?

Turning off corners has always been in 8.1. Taskbar apps is new > Thanks MS!

OH. here I was complaining that it interfered with my Photoshop setup. When you have a Quad monitor setup the mouse gets stuck on edges when going for a tool. I'm a tool.

Stop it! Don't think of yourself like that! We can't know it all, otherwise there wouldn't be forums.

Alphanumeric is a king of multiple monitors. I don't read about too many others posting about it, but that doesn't mean there are others.

I'm sure Brink or others have tutes on the subject. I'm desiring to get a video card to do so.

Did anyone else notice that closing an app with the X doesn't close it completely?

When I look in Task Manager, I see all the apps that I have opened and closed by pressing on the X. Luckily, they almost don't use up any memory like this, but still, when I press the X, I want it to be closed completely, and not half. For closing it completely, you still need to press Alt-F4 or grab it at the top, pull it down to the bottom of the screen and then wait until it flips around before letting go.

Anyone any idea why Microsoft decided not closing the apps completely?

I was trying to do this yesterday and it didn't work for me. Do you have to move the mouse in a special way? (Fast or slow?) The Metro apps I tried all seemed to have a scroll bar at the bottom and I wondered if that meant I can't have a Taskbar for them?
Nothing special, David. In fact when I discovered it, I accidentally went to the bottom of the screen and it popped up.
