Nothing about the errors there are in windows 8.1 now! F.i. old games are very slow
Why not fix what we have before including new features (which will have new errors along with it, I think)?

I don't care for Metro apps not in Metro and not at my desktop. I would rather like to see some errors getting fixed than more MS attemps to lure me to use apps.

If anyone should know all about it, it should be the guy in the video. He used to be the Lead Project Manager for the user interface of Windows 95 and so was responsible for the Windows 95 Start Menu and Taskbar. He then became Group Program Manager, where he was also involved with the Windows 2000 and XP user interfaces.

I personally think they are making a pretty good effort compromising between old habits and new innovation. Having said that there comes a point where a company has to ask, how much are we willing to compromise? Microsoft has the Xbox, I would guess the strategy; shareholders, money, moving forward in mind, gaming, especially for games 5, 6 years and older, aren't considered. I personally see the reasoning if my assumptions are correct.

"He says "our Start Screen is as customizable as ever" So What????? We still can't make our tiles on the Start Screen the color we want without a 3rd Party App. Really thinking of the user, aren't they? Same for the Start Button Menu, I guess - still have to use a 3rd Party App. As far as Metro Apps in my taskbar, no thanks - I don't use the Metro apps that much anyway and I like to keep my Desktop and taskbar relatively clean. This is more of a nuisance to me than something helpful.

But,thanks, Microsoft for so many useful changes which the users wanted and requested - NOT.

    Brink,

Thanks for the video and everything else you do for this forum.

I would be curious to know who finds it convenient to sit at a desktop and have to reach out and possibility up to reach and use a touch screen. With my home set-up my monitor is almost out of reach and I am right handed and have a bad right shoulder and it would be somewhat painful to constantly raise my arm to use a touch screen regardless of how close it might be. Regardless of my own personal situation I just can't see any desktop user liking a touch screen with a desktop. Now, any laptop, pad, notebook or any handheld device is a completely different situation.

I will bet this forum will be a busy place next week.

gator someone sent me a link to a virtual monitor once. I think it was like a tablet that reflected what was on main screen, I cant recall the link nor can I find one like it.

There is every possibility that it was a mock hardware, too long ago to recall
