Things are tight, I heard some of the executives had to sacrifice their 2nd Jet this year
possibly due to people sharing keys with friends?
we got ours for free ,only way I would have one ,iam a church janitor by day ,and a good googler by night !lol
Yeah, I'm on a disability income so money is tight. What little PC money I get is usually spent on hardware, aside from games that is. I'd still be running Windows 7 on my desktop PC's if I didn't have my free MSDN subscription. Our laptops came with 8 so it wouldn't be all that hard to go to 8.1 on those. I'd have to jump though a few hoops but it would be doable. With my MSDN 8.1 keys and ISO's a clean install is easy peasy. Thank you

Anybody tried making a bootable install thumb drive? It looks like my 4 GB thumb drives aren't big enough now. The Windows 7 DVD Download Tool is prompting me for a bigger drive.

Genet already figured it out. The thumb drive in question was already setup to install 8.1. I was redoing it for 8.1 with update one and its just not big enough. Like Genet said its a 4 gig thumb drive but the formatted capacity is less than that. The new ISO is just to big to fit on it. I pretty well already new why when I posted, it was more of a FYI post.

What do you guys do with a portable 8.1. I would like to compare notes.

I have a portable Linux on a 128GB flash drive. I can rescue up to 100GB of data from a system where the OS went belly up. Plus it is a beautiful system to work with. Very fast for the internet and I use a few nifty Linux programs for e.g. video editing, etc. Since I have access to every partition that's installed on the PC, I can move the data back and forth and between.

Converting install.wim to ESD saves you 877 MB

I'm also curious why anyone would rather use Windows-To-Go...
