For me, I'm going to give it a try shortly. I'll be making a System Image beforehand (just in case). I should have it done in the next hour or so and I will update this thread with my findings and opinions.

No expertise here... Just trial and error. It was curiosity that killed the cat but I have a few of my 9 lives left so I'll give it a whirl.

My findings:
Method One: Didn't work,
Method Two: After applying KB29119355 computer went into an everlasting repair loop.
Ooops, did you "kill" AV and other safety programs first. ?

Naw, it's only Windows Defender.
Weird thing is though, it was the largest update to download, it took the longest to install, THEN it started the repair loop.
Couldn't figure it out! Oh well, a quick 'wipe' and a quick re-install and I'm good! lol :)

Bummer, unless my2cents succeeds I think I'll wait a while, in a middle of a project, can't chance disaster now.

Method one does not work (as confirmed by Edwin). No updates were offered. Ran the Windows Update troubleshooter and it found unfixable errors. Ran DISM and it found errors and corrected same. Both of which I know I did not have before this attempt. So, I did a restore from my last System Image and all is well (no troubleshooter errors and no DISM cleanup required). MS must have pulled the plug on this method very quickly IMHO.

Now, I will try Method 2 and report my findings...

Progress update:
Well, MS must have gotten to method 2 just as quickly because they pulled the plug on that big update too.

@Edwin: I'm not sure if you got KB2919355 (770mbs) before they pulled the plug or if you got it elsewhere.

Anyway, I have found an alternate download site that several have claimed to be reliable; however, the downloads are always slow at "those kinds of sites" so I'll try to install it when the download completes (in about 10 minutes). If successful, I wil do some basic testing and update my finding accordingly. I will also do a full boot-time scan just in case as well and check the event viewer for anything new too. What the hack... a cat just can't help the urge to jump into a newly opened open cardboard box...

Ok, its up and running just fine (on the surface) but I need to do some more exploration before keeping it. I had no problems with the installation and I will detail my methods "after" I make sure there are no bugs:

I'll be back in a while. This could take some time for me to fully analyze any new capabilities. However, as far as apps go, you can see by my screenshots that I'm not an apps guy so I doubt that I will be able to effectively analyze that area properly. More to follow...

Cheers until then!

I got the 4 small MSUs directly from Microsoft and the big one , KB2919355, from a file hosting service.

What I downloaded :

  1. Install KB2919442: 64-Bit (MS)
  2. Reboot
  3. Install KB2939087: 64-Bit (MS)
  4. Reboot
  5. Install KB2919355: 64-Bit (803 MB downloaded from MEGA)
  6. Reboot
  7. Install KB2932046: 64-Bit (MS)
  8. Reboot
  9. Install KB2938439: 64-Bit (MS)
  10. Reboot
  11. Install KB2937592: 64-Bit (MS)
  12. Reboot

Time to trial !

:)

Ok, glad you found out the how-to part so that saves me a writeup!

Here are the things I tested after the install (in the order that I did them):

Observed a new Start and Apps menu
Checked my system settings - all were saved OK
Check RAM allocation – Didn't notice any major difference (on my rig)
IE11 – All previous settings were saved
Program lauch times – Didn't notice any difference (my PC was already fast)
Ran Winsat Formal – No difference in WEI scores
Observed a new Store Icon on my desktop taskbar - Unpined and it went away
Windows Updates – No new ones offered/available
Event Viewer – A few logs generated during the update but they never came back after a few reboots
Event Viewer – No errors or new informationals either (again after a few reboots)
Restart Time – Feels about the same to me
Cold Boot Time – Feels about the same to me
Ran a boot-time scan (using Avast 2014) – No issues/all clean

Good luck to all,

my2cents
