So, AIDA is not reliable either then; yes?
Where do I look in AIDA for said info?

I'm assuming CountMike would have to answer that question because I do not use it.

It had to pick it up from somewhere, couldn't just imagine it. I think I found it in KB2919355, I think "rτm" opened it with Lister from Total Commander. Too large for Notepad. Version number is right too

OK, thanks for trying. Anyway, I'd like to see a confirmation of my last request to fully support your caution; however, you have subsequently tried to provide adequate information so I thank you again for that effort; however, if nobody else is able to do that last test, I will do an 8.1 clean install on my Win 7 SP1 laptop (using a generic key), and then check the vbsscript to see what it yields at that point. In summary, thanks for attempting to support you caution to the best of your ability. Now, I will try to confirm the last piece over the next few days.

    Best regards,

Mine shows Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center Professional. That's on my desktop that has update 1 applied. I do see (winblue_rtm 130821-1623) listed after stuff like Media Player, MDAC and ODBC.

Yep! I sure did forget about that so thanks for that reminder. I guess we'll just have to sit and wait for someone else to test the last piece of the puzzle.

OS Version is listed as 6.3.9600. Have you applied update 1, I ask because I'm starting to get confused and lose track. That and I've had a couple rum + cokes. The final release of 8.1 was RTM. There were a couple of rollup updates after that to make it the GA build.

Yeah, 7 and 8 use two different OEM activation methods. In Windows 7 all OEM PC's from that manufacturer use the same master key. In Windows 8 each PC has its own unique OEM key. OA 3.0 is supposed to make it harder for someone to pirate Windows 8 or 8.1. If your PC doesn't have a Windows 8 OEM embedded key it doesn't really matter what utility you use to recover it. I didn't want you going to the trouble of a reinstall for no reason.
