    Hi there
FF started going bad when they needed to have zillions of addons and it became total bloatware.

Adverts on some mobile phone apps are partially or almost tolerable because they are at the bottom of the screen and can be totally ignored -- on a phone with a decent screen size such as Samsung S4/S5 the ads don't get in the way at all -- surprised people even bother advertising like that as nobody I know ever looks at them.

On a desktop it's a totally different ballgame -- I get irritated enough when reading text from a website and a horrible popup appears just over the text you are trying to read -- another website in my blacklist of sites marked DO NOT VISIT, - but having adverts appear while I'm doing desktop work -- NO THANKS !!!!!.

There's enough decent freeware out there without having to have adverts blown in your face -- for most things I stick with IE -- it's improved these days beyond all recognition from the early releases and as it's part of your license Windows it won't throw up any irritating adverts.

If people want payment for their work (and why shouldn't they) --that's fine by me also but find a decent business model that DOES NOT IRRITATE YOUR CUSTOMERS.

    Cheers

I guess Google isn't paying them enough.

Last I checked, Google gave them $300 million a year that goes till November this year, and has for the last three years. That's when the Google contract ends again.

According to the webs this contract with Google accounted for 85% of their revenue....

I'm also using Pale Moon because it seems to be faster and I like its UI a bit better, but honestly I fail to see what the big deal is, it's not like they're going to show ads on your face while you're browsing.

I for one am just going to wait and see what happens with FF before I judge if they're messing up a good product or not. Right now I'm using Pale Moon and it's working fine for me.

I can see someone wanting to take that approach and cool, but for me, the article clearly goes against their core mission.

I can't be down with something so confused, or that goes against why I first started using it in the first place. It's exposing their mindset as of late. As you say, Pale Moon is working great here too.

Also waiting for the new version to see what the ads bring in + to see who of the FireFox Family follows all the new stuff. Cyberfox, Pale Moon, ..., Ice Weasel.

I agree, as long as forked versions exist and can be created, all is possible.

Did you change any Pale Moon settings from the defaults?

On my PC, I don't notice any speed differences between the latest browsers (Chrome, FF, IE10, Maxthon, Opera and PM).
I've always suspected that browser speeds are immaterial if you don't have a huge Internet bandwidth (we get 5Mb/s maximum).

I swapped to PM last August as a (feeble) protest against Mozilla's preoccupation with adding "fluff" features, instead of fixing the few problems that exist in FF.

Never tried Pale Moon. I only use firefox to get around adds (hello!)

Mostly the video adds though, so as long as youtube gets no interference from FF, I'll keep it on my machine.

Haven't tried chrome for an extended time either. I still prefer IE above all browsers for all other uses. The ONLY thing I don't like about it is adblock isn't available o.0
