Today marks 60 days until the end of support for Windows XP and we need your help spreading the word to ensure people are safe and secure on modern up-to-date PCs. As a reader of this blog, it’s unlikely you are running Windows XP on your PC. However, you may know someone who is and have even served as their tech support. Curiously, although Microsoft have previously advised folks with Vista or XP to upgrade to 8.0 first (and the UK Microsoft Store still suggests that as the best way) this Tutorial goes straight to 8.1

April Fools is not too far away. Maybe swap out one of their drives with Win 8.1 to go on it or something and have video camera ready for the reaction. lol

The Ubuntu Unity UI is just as bad. I prefer Mint.

Linux Mint Mate is good, Cinnamon still has some quirks so I cannot recommend it yet.

Replace all XP computers with Debian. Global DDoS statistics would drop a significant amount.

I swapped to Linux Mint MATE after Canonical introduced Unity in Ubuntu (Gnome 3 doesn't impress me either).

I agree @ectech Debian is stable but they are still using upstart and they need to use SystemD. SystemD is much faster then upstart.

I must be a nut because I've actually upgraded all of my machines (3 laptops, 2 desktops, and a tablet that was on 8.0) to Windows 8.1 and absolutely love it.
