    I'm not holding my breath.

I hold my opinion until I have the official release, but so far, the majority of the "new" items can be accomplished with Modernmix.
One puzzle, though. I understood this was coming as an update. I see the leak, which is now published all over the web, is a complete OS ISO?

Screenshots of Windows 8.1 Update 1

Here are screenshots of the changes noticed so far in Windows 8.1 Update 1:

Please feel free to post any you notice as well.

    1) When you swipe down from top of touch screen or move the pointer to the top of a modern app or screen, you will now get a black bar slide down to either click on the app icon on the right for options or click on X at the left to completely close it instead of having to drag the app to the bottom of the screen.

    2) Can now "Pin to taskbar" Modern apps.

    3) New Search and Power Options buttons to right of User button at top right corner of Start screen. You can still just start typing on the Start screen to search though.

    4) New Power Options buttons at top right corner of Apps screen.

    5) When you right click or press and hold on apps on the Start and Apps screen, you will now get a context menu instead of the bar at the bottom.

    6) While on your Start screen, you will now need to right click or press and hold on an empty area, and click/tap on Name groups and Stop naming groups instead of a Customize button in a bottom bar.

    7) Control Panel link now in PC settings.

I think these changes tell you more about user's core than about the product itself. If you have to put a search button on SS then something is seriously wrong in 2014. Instead of just typing, their user prefers to click on the button first and then type.

Also right click context menu, besides that it looks ugly and out of place, now breaks the ability to rename the groups. I hope they didn't revert to original Win8 group naming and that you simply can just right click on group title to change it.

Proper X to close modern app is welcome addition but you can always alt+F4 just like any other desktop program. What bothers me more about in-app UX is that you cant select multiple items with left click hold and drag, that is the real problem if you are talking about mouse + touch apps integration and its not mention anywhere so I guess it didn't happen.

I just love the link to Control Panel in PC settings. How Microsoft managed to screw up Windows so badly is beyond me. And that they're still trying to patch this monstrosity up instead of shooting it in the head, burying it, and going back to the drawing board is simply baffling.

    Couple of questions

Item 1, Not sure I like these options on a touch screen, for mouse they look fine, Do they look the same on a touch enabled device

Item 5, Any way to turn these context menus off, they look really out of place on the metro screen

Not sure what Ms's plan is in the long run here, but mixing Desktop and Metro UI together just looks a mess, IMO

I think I'll just wait for 9, as I think this update is mostly for the metro crowd.

That's not the menu they are referring too, I have it there too. Bring up the Charms bar click Settings and then click "Change PC Settings. That's the menu it will be on.
