My MVP status gets me access to TechNet and MSDN so I'll have my free MSDN account to fall back on. Assuming my MVP gets renewed that is. My TechNet doesn't run out until July so I should be able to get an 8.1.1 ISO if they actually put one up anyway. They gave a lot of users a 1 time 90 extension due to the closure.
I have yet to see a bootable RTM Win8.1 Pro ISO from Technet. I doubt there will be one for Win8.1.1

    Hey John,

The Windows 8.1 ISO would be for both the core and Pro edition of 8.1. The product key you enter during installation will determine which edition gets installed.

In your case, this one: Windows 8.1 (multiple editions) (x64) - DVD (English)

There are 8.1 multi edition ISO's on TechNet. They install Core or Pro depending on the product code entered. They are not split into separate Pro and Core ISO's. The only 8.1 Pro ISO on TechNet is the Volume License edition.

John, the product key for 8.1 ISO I got from my Technet subscription is Pro. And I have/had the least expensive version of Technet.

On TechNet all I can get are Pro keys, on MSDN I can get Pro and Core keys. It's the same ISO listed for download on both.

the key issue I was making here is WIN8.1 RTM, the full, installable official release is NOT ON Technet. All of the Technet releases are for prerelease versions:

From Paul thurott "While the RTM version is right on track for its October release, as the platform reportedly went RTM on August 23 as of build 9600.16384.130821-1623."

I needed to download a bootleg copy in order to do a full install of the Win8.1 RTM as there is not one on Technet. The technet Win8.1 ISOs need to be substantially upgraded to bring it up to RTM. Am I wrong?

It's my understanding that the ones dated 9/9/2013 are the RTM build and the ones dated 10/17/2013 are the GA build. The GA build included the rollups released after the RTM was released. Enterprise and Pro VL were updated to GA but the others weren't.

Um, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't what is on TechNet usually the latest and greatest? As far as official releases go, ignoring beta releases etc?
