Cool to see other ppl that had the headache of all those wires I did business phone systems for many years, what's important is the color code which is 10 colors that are "wrapped"in a binder group using the color code. Blue, orange ,green ,brown, slate.... then white, red, black, yellow, violet. OK sorry way off topic but is nice to find other ppl here that know and have used this before. I wonder who came up with this fairly easy way to ID thousands of wires.

lol, I had that memorized, white blue, white orang, white green, white brown, white slate, red blue, red orange, .... Those colors were picked so even people like me, that are partially color blind, can still tell them apart. The only ones that really gave me problems were the pair that had a blue wire with a violet stripe and a violet wire with a blue stripe.

    All look the same 2ME!

alphanumeric I'm really surprised you were able to do being colored blind, you are in fact the first person I have heard say they could do. I sure agreesome color binders were harder to see than others. Very cool I don't talk to a lot of ppl that understand the color code and the rest don't give a S%#T lol.MIKLO

I'm only partially color blind. They call it red green color deficiency, but I can see red and green just fine. Turquoise I can't see, its either looks blue or green to me. Shades or grey can be a problem and similar colors under dim light. Most of the time its a none issue for me. Other than colored wires, resistor color codes could be tricky to read. If in doubt I'd just dig out my OHM meter to make sure I read it correctly. As far as the wire color code goes, once you know what colors are used, and what colors aren't used, its pretty easy to sort out what color is what. I didn't make any more mistakes than anyone else with good color vision.
