Windows 8.1 Fails to Impress in India Despite Massive Disc

Microsoft continues the struggle to convince everyone to give Windows 8 and 8.1 a try, but according to reports coming from all over the world, most consumers still prefer to stick to Windows 7.

Livemint is reporting that in India Windows 8 and 8.1 are slowly becoming obsolete, pretty much because Windows 7 remains the number one option of all those who might consider a potential transition to modern Windows.

The reason is mostly the same as all over the world: Windows 8 is much more appropriate for touch-capable devices, so many prefer to wait for Windows 9 before making a final decision.

I know some work places and schools that block everything on the computer so that the user can only run in the needed programs and browsers.

they block access rights to file explorer, task manager and if there is a startmenu, it would only show the shutdown buttons and the needed programs.

they could put windows 8 on the computers and have them boot to the desktop with the shortcuts on the deskop and taskbar and no one problems. except for lack of aero.

I guess the people in India are just like the people in the rest of the world. A new OS that has 10% market share after 18 months in the market is not something to which people will rally. It is unfortunate that MS is so stubburn and does not recognize that the desktop users do not want a tablet OS.

This has all been hashed in the past, but I am certain MS recognizes it they just have an overriding desire to get people into their windows store/tablet/phone world and they are willing to sacrifice a generation of their OS to fulfill that desire.
