They probably gave Huge Incentives to those countries, to the carriers. But Apple is actually hitting a new High, finally edged out Samgung- the 64-bit 5S was a good decision, and many people were actually waiting for the Jailbreak to be released before buying, I wonder if when they check the stats fort sales from December, how many 5S's were sold since December 24th? People don't believe me, that Apple Sales soar when there is a viable Jailbreak. It happened for 4.3.3, for 5.0.1 and 5.1.1, for 6.1 through 6.1.2, and it's happening now for iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4- eVasi0n slammed in at least 3 iOS versions in one swell foop - and iHatesn0w delievered an update for 6.1.3 through 6.1.5, so at this point, ALL iOS is pwned.

I'm wondering if these Windows 8 phones, are they 32 or 64? With 64 bit wpOS's, they could give iOS 7 a money-run.

As much as I love iOS, I would love to get my hands on a Windows 8 device. I took a plunge and bought a cheap Droidevice early December - But I lucked out with a tail end Black Friday sale and got a 200 buck device for 60. I think next Year, I'll aim for getting a Cheap Windows 8 device - IF they are cheap. Because now, I have my hands full of iOS and Droid, I need to get Windows Device OS into my hands.

I read a while back that one of Russia's largest carrier dropped support for the iphone because it actually costs THEM money just to sell it. Windows Phone nor android have such a thing where royalties get paid to the respective companies from carriers to just sell them.

Windows Phone 8 I'd imagine is a 32 bit based system, otherwise we'd have all known by now and apple wouldn't have been first to do such. Windows RT is a 32 bit RISC based platform, Windows Phone would be just the same.

Seriously, I kid you not, if you keep a lookout you'll probably find the Nokia Lumia 521 on sale again for about 30-50 dollars. It runs usually 80-100. It's a pretty neat doohickey, it has a super sensitive touch screen and the ability to have about 70 gigs of on board storage!

Certainly not the case in West Aussie. I had to wait over two months to get my hands on an unlocked Apple iPhone IOS7 5s, and that's at a cost of $1,000 Aussie $$$. The price is outrageous but if you want Apple that's what you pay ... and there's no shortage of buyers. In fact stocks were pre-ordered 2 months ahead when I first got serious about buying one.

Main reason I bought it? My son's got one and it's got it all, from fingerprint ID to face to face calls. And a 64bit OS. In fact there are so many features it's almost too much.

Other reasons include quality of product, and more importantly, back-up tech support. There are two Apple stores close by and you can just walk in the door and talk to a consultant. Or book an appointment; or phone the store and option 2 puts you through to Australia wide support.

The final reason was to investigate Mac OS first hand.

I was just reading about Windows Mobile and wow, the idea that Microsoft came late to "the game" is kind of a fallacy. It's more like they made the game, but got out innovated. It's also very fascinating how the UI designs from Mobile to Phone are basically one in the same. On Windows Mobile, it was essentially taking the Desktop start menu, adding information and relevant data to it, and put it on a phone screen. This is basically the Start Screen in Windows Phone.

Very weird to read about really elder smartphones and the reviews. It's strange because nowadays, the very first few things covered is the processor and screen. Back then, it was mostly the keyboard, the screen, storage and camera but with a HEAVY emphasis on the software side.

It really makes you wonder what would have happened if apple didn't make an iphone (was considered a "dumb" phone compared to Windows Mobile) as Microsoft was building Mobile to be LITERALLY like a baby PC in your pocket versus something that has made people be so socially awkward.... :\

My guess would be that Windows phones sell so well because Nokia was so dominant in those countries when they were still selling their Symbian phones. There Windows phones are now a 'natural' migration path. It was a smart MS move to get involved with Nokia.

On another forum, actually converted a once hardcore Android/Nexus phone user to WP in a Lumia 1520. He actually chose it to replace his Nexus 5 and surprisingly can't say enough good things about the platform. Introduced him to the convenience of Skydrive too.

One thing I intensely dislike about iPhone is Apple controlling everything. When it's connected to your PC via USB cable, you can't drag/drop pictures or songs directly into it. It has to be synced to iCloud or iTunes. And when you sync songs it auto deletes what you've already got and reloads what's in iTunes. However you can drag photos from it to PC desktop. And to replace the battery you have to get them to do it at a price of $100 or buy a battery and kit; and even then it's not simply slide out/in.

It's definitely not as user friendly as my previous Sony Xperia Android.
