Also... Alt - F4 will completely close any metro app. No need to close in task manager.

Just because your usage makes full-screen superfluous it doesn't mean the app is not fine for 'traditional desktops.' Also, FTR, you close a Modern UI app that's been snapped the same way you would if it was full screen. Just click at the top and drag it down.

you haven't answered the question here -- HOW DO YOU CLOSE THE APP AFTER YOU'VE SELECTED THE SNAP RIGHT / LEFT.

I'm not saying in every situation Metro apps aren't fit for purpose -- but for traditional desktops I have my doubts and so far the only solution people have come up with for closing the PDF metro app after you've selected the snap right or left choice is to kill it via CTRL -DEL + task menu.

Please guys -- at LEAST READ AND understand posts BEFORE REPLYING TO THEM -- I'm beginning to get the impression that a lot of people answering posts are "Sub Teens"who probably have not got a single days experience in a commercial workplace.

I'm not a horrible person but some of the reply's I've seen lately on this and the W7 Forums lately make me question what's happening now - as nobody seems to know how to use GOOGLE and do the most elementary bit of "Self Research".,

    Cheers

Forgive me, Jimbo, for stepping in here.

Am I missing something or do you not know putting the focus on the snapped app and pressing Alt - F4 closes it completely? You can verify by looking at the task manager a few seconds later.

Also putting the mouse pointer at the top of the snapped app until you see a hand and dragging it down does the same thing. Apologies if this is not your point.

The toy pdf reader can't be used with MS Word. Word docx will not convert to .pdf with MS's own reader.

I use PDF - XChange Viewer if any editing or conversions are necessary.
The free metro PDF viewer is not a professional grade application.
It is only a free basic viewer like the free acrobat version.

I thought this was already known? This application is decent the only thing I don't like is that it seems to open in metro by default. (maybe I'm thinking of something else) It's decent if all you are doing is reading a PDF.

I use Foxit, don't like the bloat that comes with Adobe plus all the updates you have to keep going through. I've been using Foxit for years now, I have it on my Windows 7 desktop and I've just downloaded it to my Windows 8 Notebook.

Is it something peculiar to W8 that a CD (700Mb) takes so long to load? Exactly the same CD used to open virtually straight away with XP, but now 'chunders away' first to display folders and then again when I open a folder. The reader/writer is what came with the newly bought HP desktop. ...
