New Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit v4.1 (EMET)

The Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET) is designed to help prevent hackers from gaining access to your system.

Software vulnerabilities and exploits have become an everyday part of life. Virtually every product has to deal with them and consequently, users are faced with a stream of security updates. For users who get attacked before the latest updates have been applied or who get attacked before an update is even available, the results can be devastating: malware, loss of PII, etc.

The EMET 4.1 PDF manual does not list 8.1 as a supported system either, but works on my 8.1 as well...

I've been using EMET since version 2 or 3. The idea behind it is sound, especially, if MS could keep pace with the ever changing exploit technology.

The malware nowadays routinely disables AV prior to infecting the system and EMET maybe added to this routine as well, if the distribution of EMET continues to increase. A working exploit for EMET version 3.5 had been made public last year, which probably had been fixed in version 4.0 an/or 4.1. We just don't know, if there are exploits for the latest versions of EMET that had not been publicized as of yet.
