Yep we do need some brave souls to try them out and test them first, if ever body waited a week it would do no good to wait a week.

Downloaded updates (267 MB), and installed without any problems. Tested all installed software including VMWare VMs and had no problems (at least at this time). Did several restarts and shutdowns without any problems. Now that does not mean you won't have any problems, just that I haven't at this time. . .good luck with your updates. . .

    Hi there
seemed to work fine (Windows 8.1 ) -- also a load of Office 2010 updates too --- BTW after this update I was able to install the additional display language packs that weren't available previously (apart from the original additional 36 languages via the language pack ISO from technet) - whether this is just "co-incidence" or has something to do with the updates I just don't know.

So for all those wanting weird languages like Basque, Welsh etc on Windows 8.1 -- all are now available. Surprised Ms didn't make an availability announcement on this. Just add from the Language Icon on the control panel (Only PRO and ENTERPRISE versions only I'm afraid though).

For people afraid to install the updates - why don't you just BACKUP your system first (max time 20 mins - especially if you've separated the OS and your data - on an SSD can be as short as 5 - 7 mins) or test in a VM. Then if it doesn't work either delete the VM or just restore your previous system. ...."SEEEEMPLES.......".

    Cheers
    jimbo
