I don't mean any disrespect, I just don't understand why you would take a chance and spend that kind of money on the Surface RT in HOPES that you could develop ARM for desktop applications. It was a bad assumption that you could, without the current hack, just based on the fact that a desktop existed.

I was thinking of switching over from Android and getting a Surface RT...

this guy clearly has no clue as proven by:
    - owning a Windows phone
    - a HTC phone at that.

IMO, MS should drop the restricted arm\rt, and offer a lower priced 'quasi-pro', using some of this > Intel Launches New Multicore, Low-Power SoCs for Tablets, 2 in 1s and Other Computing Devices

I thought my assumption was simply just common sense. Who would provide a desktop that is relatively unusable?

Awesomeness right now with my Surface 2.

I got the 1st gen SPro initially to replace my desktop pc. I didn't end up getting rid of the desktop so since I really had no use for SPro, I am selling it.

The original RT would have been ok, but I wasn't happy about USB 2 and 720 screen. Now, i've got USB 3 and 1080 and i'm golden!

Since i'm keeping the pc, I can remote in for all my x86 grunt work and now I have 10+ hours of usage and that sweet 2 stage kick stand.

Got the 32gb version. Music, files etc. already on the new addition of 200gb. No sd card needed. And, when RT merges with WP, this thing will be even better.

    Loving this thing!

Windows 8 tablets in general fail to impress me for the time being and it's not just the UI, maybe come this time next year when there's better hardware from Intel, NVIDIA and Qualcomm and a probable 2nd update to Windows 8.1 then maybe I'd consider one if the price is right.

But for the time being though I'm have my eye on either a Trail Bay, Tegra 4i or Snapdragon 800 Android tablet for Q1 2014 when the prices drop a bit and Intel gets Trail Bay fully functional on Android (hopefully Android 5.0 will be just around the corner by then).
