    Looks like Windows 8 introduces some additional DEFRAG options.

    - Perform slab consolidation on the specified volumes
    - Perform retrim on the specified volumes
    - Perform the proper optimization for each media type

I went into my power options to change some of the advanced settings and most of them are missing? I am on windows 8.1 with a week old Surface Pro 3. I want to say I read somewhere that hyper-v can cause options to be missing, but I honestly don't even know what that is and I don't have it...
Windows 8.1 One of my hard drives wont defrag in Performance & Maintenance
I was currently trying to defrag my drives, out of four one was at 17% frag, and it defragged just fine however the other drive is currently 25% frag but when i click optimize it seems to start but then immediately stops and goes back to saying it is 25% frag ideas?

Any idea which work? I know perfectdisk does not work in windows 8.1 Not sure if the default Windows 8.1 disk defrag is as good as third party.

I keep reading different interpretations on whether W8 does a trim command or defrag using the new "optimization" utility (formally defrag). Is there a DEFINITE answer on this ? Thanks
