Windows 8 and 8.1 Forums

Windows 8.1 now available!

On my second 8.1 installation, the update didn't appear in the store until I had installed other waiting updates. After installing the updates, I accessed the store and the 8.1 upgrade was available.

My other system also has a Logitech mouse, I'll see what happens on that system (8.1 is slowly downloading).

It should be this instead in the Store.

Waited a while now, but Store still seems to think I'm going to get the Preview. If I click to download it, what will the file name of the proper 8.1 zip be, as opposed to the preview version?

Can the upgrade be saved as separate file or .exe zipped to be installed at a later date, or must it be installed on download?

What build/version of Windows 8 do you currently have?

Did you install all available Windows Updates first?

I've installed all Windows Updates and I'm running 8. I have never tried to download or install the preview 8.1.

I think I've made a huge goof. I expected a download file, so I've clicked on the store tile. It seems to b an automatic upgrade. NOT what I wanted to do.

Correct. It's an automatic download via the Windows Store tile. If you wanted a separate download file, then you might wait until tomorrow (18th) when the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant is released to see if it will like the one for Windows 8 did.
