OK, have to ask. I'll still have to got to the store and say I want the update, right? Not going be an automatic install through Windows Update right? I have limited bandwidth allowance and must manage my download amounts.

Anybody know how large of download it will be, average?

Popeye, it is not automatic, you have to go to the Store and select it.

There's gonna be a lot of Windows 8 users out there that don't use the store, or access this forum, that simply won't know about the update.

Knowing Microsoft there will probably be a mass email sent to everyone with an email account.

They could send a small update through Windows update to add an action center alert or even a tile to your Start Screen. I'm sure they've figured out some way to notify 8 users of the update. Just going to the Windows store may prompt you with the notification that you can update.

They have already done that. There was an update a while back that describes an action similar to what you are describing.

I hope that since this update will be download through the store and not windows update the full download will be available and can be clean installed

what makes you think that? you could update and then do a refresh and it would produce the same results. so why would 8.1 not work the same as 8 with the option to install without saving anything

Just a curious thought, and I am unsure if it is possible, but has anyone had an installation of Windows Xp and Upgraded to Vista, then 7, then 8, and finally 8.1? Or is that not even possible. I am assuming not as the hardware has changed a bunch from 2001 to 2014 (Now).

Upgraded to Windows 8, insane RAM cache. in Performance & Maintenance
So, I recently upgraded to Windows 8. And I noticed I started having some issues with performance in games (stuttering, etc).
