HP Testing Windows 8 On Touchpads?

In news that is hardly surprising, it seems that HP are looking to possibly reignite their attempts to get a foothold in the tablet world. But instead of using the failing Web OS platform, this time they’re looking to be more successful with Windows 8. The HP TouchPad was their first attempt at trying to conquer the tablet market, but unfortunately it failed miserably for them and after a few months on the market, HP decided to cut their loses and flog them off for little or nothing.

However it was these drastic measures which sparked a lot of interest in the TouchPad.So much so that HP decided to run another batch of them. Hardware wise it was pretty good, it’s just people weren’t too keen on adopting the Web OS.

Windows 8 and HP

Meg Whitman, the former eBay CEO who recently made headlines with her failed campaign for governor of the Golden State, is now seated as the head of HP. When asked about HP’s foundering PC division, of which the rumors about a shutdown have been put to rest, she gave a little information. As the team at Windows8Center predicted previously, HP is committed to Windows 8. “I think we need to be in the tablet business and we’re certainly going to be there with Windows 8,” Whitman commented. “We’re going to make another run at this business.” She certainly speaks as if she’s been at HP for years!

This will be interesting, when tablets get to a better price point I would mind having one. With Windows 8.
