Wonder what they intend doing with the 'gently used' iPads.. distribute them to underprivileged schools?

That will be a great social consciousness gesture.. but a marketing nightmare... LOL

Imagine Mr. Balmer walking into a classroom distributing iPads..

Users Very Likely to Ignore Microsoft's iPad Exchange Offer, Analyst Believes

Microsoft yesterday quietly rolled out a new campaign, promising to offer at least $200 (€150) to users who trade in their old iPads for a new device built by the Redmond-based tech giant.

While this is indeed an attempt to kill two birds with one stone (push more rival devices from the market and boost the number of your own units), analysts don't expect many users to exchange their iPads for Surfaces.

If you ever wondered why these analysts get paid the big bucks, well, there's your answer. I thought this was the most pathetic Microsoft could get, but a couple of days later, they came out with their (since retracted) Windows Phone Youtube videos. Oh wait, I forgot about the iPhone funeral they held a few years ago. Just terrible.

Microsoft ups the ante on its iPhone, iPad trade-in promotion

This week, Microsoft has upped the ante on trade-ins involving its competitors' devices. Users can trade in a variety of phones, tablets and PCs, including Apple iPads and iPhones, Samsung devices, BlackBerry phones and more and receive a gift card worth up to $350 via a new Microsoft Corporate Buyback promotion.

(I'm not sure if Microsoft just launched this program today, September 18, which is the day Apple launched iOS7. I learned about the new promotion via a September 18 blog post by a Microsoft technology evangelist, however.)
