Why all the errors in Microsoft updates lately?

Summary: September makes 3 months in a row that Microsoft has issued buggy patches, 3 of which had to be pulled from distribution. Perhaps Microsoft has too many products to have one patch cycle.

Yeah well I'm still waiting for them to "pull" these off their list, I'm getting tired of seeing them listed on the download page after re-installing them 4 or 5 times.

incl that one w8 x64 update that keeps on "failing" to install.

These seem to install but keep re appearing as updates when re checking for updates

Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2760588) Download size: 7.5 MB
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2760411) Download size: 7.7 MB
Security Update for Excel 2003 (KB2810048) Download size: 4.9 MB

This one just keeps failing. and gives me a red error

Update for Windows 8 for x64-based Systems (KB2876415) Download size: 1.5 MB

    I don't have office 2007 , I use office 2003

hoody you do know that office 2003 will no longer be supported as of April 14, 2014 by Microsoft
and You are right about all these blunder updates, it seems each month it is getting worse and worse- for the life of me I do not understand why Microsoft does not do full tests on these updates before sending them out

Yeah I know, but that don't mean it will just stop workin....... I like the look of 03 best, I have 07 but for some reason it doesn't like W8 and had to un install it.

Other than that I assume I could just "hide" those and be done with them, since when I check the install log they seem to be there, smirks........other than that one W8 update that is listed as optional and just fails to install.

just ran windows update, seems they fixed the glitch that wasn't seeing those office security updates, it must be more on their server end and not the actual update file.

Now just that one W8 optional update is still failing to install.

Our IT department tests patches an deploys them a few days or weeks later. I always thought that is silly and they could just use auto-update. But it seems they are onto something after all... I now do the same and download patches manually a few weeks later, hoping bad ones will be pulled meanwhile.

MS really screwed up by supporting XP beyond 10 years. First it cost resources to update. Second, they are in the business of selling new OS. No normal person keeps a PC for 10 years anyway. Every other software company sells you expensive subscriptions for updates. So 10 years free updates is good enough.

I just remembered a "feature" that's new in Windows 8.1: Windows Store Apps will update themselves automatically by default without asking permission.

I'm sure that will work out well then...

(Although at least there seems to be an option to turn updating off.)
