If you are using windows setup to install, there is a key for that. You need your own purchased key to activate afterwards.
    ...and what's that key?

I googled it, installed 8.1 and i have activated with my key. Thanks for the tip.

I find it stupid anyway....i mean, if i can clean install windows 8 with some default key and then activate with my upgrade key, why didn't they just make one key that works everywhere and at anytime (pre/post install)?

If you have a legit key you are able to activate the 8.1-RTM, like the Pro. There are "rumors", that you are able to activate the WMC-Part as well, but I had no time to try it myself yet. Install and Activation-Key's are different. The Install-Key is similar to the PreView the same for everyone, but the Activation-Key is your legit Key, like from 8-Pro or 8-Pro-WMC.

Some could upgrade without loosing something and some not, but as I didn't try it yet, I can't confirm it from my side.

Even if you want to wait for the official release day, it's still handy to have the ISO's.

Installed it on my development PC without hesitation VIA upgrade and everything feels as snappy as a fresh install

I get to keep my IDE's and apps

I am also able to run 8 Metro Apps in 2 monitors at the same time which is ****ing awesome !

Windows 8.1 All the way ;D!

Hi, I have two laptops made by the same manufacturer and same year, but one is a dual core laptop with an SSD harddrive and the other is a quad core laptop with a regular hard drive. Both laptops run Windows 8. I would like to transfer my programs and files from the dual core to the quad core....
Hi guys. I've been looking at 2 laptops, they are basically identical but one has an Intel Core i3-4005U mobile processor and 4GB of RAM, and the other one has an AMD A4-5000 mobile processor and 6GB RAM. The guy at the store and a couple other people I know told me that the Core i3 is better than...
Hi there worked exactly as "It said on the tin". Ran the .exe file from the ISO (using the virtual mounter system in W8.1 (W8 has this too). Gave me the option to keep applications and settings (Didn't on RTM). Installed fine -- you need to DISCONNECT from the Internet at Ms account...
, I have Windows 8.1 Core and Enterprise dual booted. I have installed windows 8 x64 consumer preview. Under the task manager performance, Im only seeing one cpu graph, and it reports one physical processor and two `logical` processors. Also under device manager, when I get the properties for `Computer` it says acpi x64 based pc, I think older...
Title says it all. Before I installed Hyper-V, Windows shows all 8 threads. . . After, only 1, and VMs were definately sluggish. Has anyone else had this issue or know how to fix it?
