The way I read things is that, Microsoft is still going update and patch it to fix bugs etc. What actually gets released on October 18 may be an updated patched version of that. I really don't know what to believe anymore. I have a TechNet subscription so I'm content to wait until it shows up there. I'll have access to TechNet keys for it too if I need them and not have to mess with install keys and a separate activation key etc. I had issues with the preview release so that's another reason for me to wait as long as I can. Better drivers may be out then.
At the moment we don't know how we will receive the updates for the actual / leaked RTM, but as the OEM's got this Version to be able to put Hardware with it installed on it into a shop etc, I would say, that we just get normal downloadable updates.

I had a few issues with the PreView as well, but the "RTM" works fine for me, even that I upgraded from Windows-8-Pro-WMC-x64.

I didn't explain it very well but the point I was trying to make was that it was still a work in progress. Some of the updates and fixes may be rolled into the final version that gets released in a couple of weeks. If that's what actually happens I'd rather wait for that version. If your dual booting or running it in a VM its not a big deal. I plan on doing a clean install.
Yeah, there is not really the need to rush into it, if you don't want to play around with it.

I prefer a clean install as well and will do one, after the RTM is officially released. For me was the upgrade-path for test purposes, as the upgrade-path from Win7 to Win8 didn't work, because I had some driver related issues.

On the other hand I wanted to know how Win8.1 is performing, compared to Win8 and especially when gaming and I created already some custom Win8.1-DVD's.

Are the files listed here for Windows 8.1 "pro"?

Or just Windows 8.1 (Not pro)?

    Or both?

If you are referring to the 8.1 ISO files "multi' means they are both core and 8 pro. What gets installed depends on what key you enter during the install.

Clean installs are doable with the ISO. You'll have to enter a valid legal product code to activate. The ones listed in the first post are only to install with, you can't activate with them.

Ok I'm stumped. I've installed 8.1 pro with the PK found at the beginning of this thread. I need to activate. I have a retail Win 8 pro PK. How do I use it to activate 8.1?

Any detailed help would be most appreciated.
