Windows 9 and Windows 10 Details Leaked

Windows 8.1 is just around the corner, but details on the next full Windows releases have already started reaching the web, proving that Microsoft has indeed started work on the upcoming iterations of its operating system.

Ru-Board forum member WZOR, who previously revealed fairly accurate information on new Microsoft products, now claims that Microsoft is already developing Windows 9 and Windows 10 and it’s looking into a wide array of major changes.

First of all, Windows 9, the first successor of the existing Windows 8 modern OS, is expected to hit the market sometime next year, but it won’t bring major visual updates to the existing platform. The good news is that Microsoft is working to bring back the Aero interface, but with “some” changes.
The future of Windows RT is also under consideration right now, with the same source claiming that Microsoft might actually merge RT and Windows Phone. This isn’t the first time when such info makes the rounds, so there really might be some truth behind these words.

Of course, it’s a lot too early to talk about either Windows 9 or Windows 10, so let’s take all of these with a pinch of salt. Since Microsoft is still looking for a leader, many more changes are likely to occur until the next OS goes live.

I don't see the Aero interface returning. Why mess with the flat work? It actually looks beautiful. Or are people so stupid that they complained about the "flat look" to Microsoft by suggesting I couldn't find the Close and maximize button?

It will be a determent to the company if they went back to the old interface instead of leaving the flat look. It looks so much better!

I've been hearing about the so called merging of Windows Phone and Windows RT.... It would be interesting to have one ecosystem for two mobile platforms.

Pay-per-Click OS?

Pay-per-Click OS?
Sounds like MS is planning to make themselves totally irrelevant.

Beauty is a subjective matter. I do miss aero, and I find the "new" flat look horrible. Moreover, it may hurt usability as well. Just ask developers that had to put up with the latest UI changes on Visual Studio.

What bothers me the most is that, like everything else, they have not used the flat look because they thought it'd better for the desktop, but because they needed it so all the Metro/touch bits wouldn't look so alien and out of place. Same reasoning for everything else that's wrong with Windows 8, really.

Similar to Apple, but would make more sense...

As I've posted earlier, what would be wrong with the names of "Windows Mobile Phone" and "Windows Mobile Tablet"?

Works, most of the times unless Microsoft patches decide otherwise...
I was hoping they would just do 8.1,2,3,4 for the tablet\mobile market and just go back to normal for Windows 9 etc.

Damn

Depends if it continues to sell like cold cow pats. Maybe the little subterfuges in 8.1 will make a difference. We shall see.

Windows 9 sounds much better, but Windows 10, if true, would be worse than Windows 8. Yet again, look at Google's Chrome OS. While it is hyped in the media, true market share is very small. I think it is safe to say most folks would not use a cloud base OS for their primary computing as most of us don't want all our data in the cloud, although some data is a good idea.

Time will tell, especially once new leadership gets into Microsoft. I will say the WinPhone8 and Windows RT is probably the smartest move they've made for the mobile piece. Can't wait to see it roll out.

Windows RT, a smart move, how so? As near as I can tell people aren't buying into it? How long do you wait for adoption?
