Windows 8.1 Features New Tutorials to Make the OS Less....

One of the most criticized aspects of Windows 8 was the Metro UI that was often considered pretty difficult to use, especially by beginners who expected to be provided with the traditional desktop look.
Microsoft has tried to tackle this problem in the first major update of the operating system, so Windows 8.1 comes with several improvements in this regard.

A leaked build that reached the web a couple of hours ago comprises new tutorials to make the whole platform a bit easier to use, including guides displayed on the Start screen that help consumers get around the operating system.

I don't see tutorials making any difference whatsoever.... in fact it smacks of desperation on microsoft's part. The term "flogging a dead horse" comes to mind. Not that I'm planning to ditch windows... I'll continue to use 8, with the help of classic shell to give me what I want... which is not metro. As for 8.1... the same holds true. No metro, not ever. Ever hopeful tho, I will continue to hope that they come to their senses, and return a proper, fully functioning desktop in win9.

    Hi there
It really doesn't matter WHAT documentation is available --99% of people will NEVER R.T.F.M -- there's probably only ONE exception -- when in the kitchen and cooking - then usually people follow the recipe reasonably.

(Also just think --if 100% PERFECT documentation and tutorials existed -- what would we do on the Forums !!!!).

    Cheers

Agreed combining a touch UI on the desktop is a BIG mistake on M$ part.

Windows 8 actually contains a reasonably useful guide for new users - I think that if it had opened that up after installing... well, who knows.

Microsoft also published (rather belatedly) this "Training Brochure" which I reckon is a pretty good intro to Windows 8.

The best Windows 8 / 8.1 tutorial is the one that describes how to wipe the drive and reinstall Windows 7.

Just browsing through that document is quite clear what a terrible idea using the same interface for both touch and mouse is.
