Firefox Makes it Easy to Share Your Favorite Content

Social sites and services are a key part of online life and we develop Firefox for how you use the Web. Over the last year, we’ve been working on ways to integrate social sites and services directly into Firefox to quickly and easily connect you with your friends and family.

Last year, we launched with Facebook as the first social integration partner in Firefox. Soon after that we added Cliqz, Mixi and msnNOW and we look forward to integrating more social sites, services and apps into Firefox to make your browsing experience more social, customizable and personal.

As part of expanding our social offering to provide you with an even better experience, we developed the ability to easily share content from Firefox. The share button on the Firefox toolbar lets you share your favorite content in a few clicks with friends or followers directly from Firefox, wherever you go on the Web. You can post an interesting article to your profile, share a recipe with your friends or send an idea for a gift in a private message or email, all without leaving the Web page you are visiting. You can try out this now with Facebook Messenger for Firefox or Cliqz

I wish they'd fix the Bookmark Manager instead of wasting time on this stuff.

What's wrong with the Bookmark Manager? I always have the Bookmarks pane open, and it works fine for me. I mainly just drag and drop to it. Which reminds me, even in IE10, Microsoft still hasn't fixed the stupid behavior where dragging a link to its Favorites pane shows a proper insertion bar, yet when you release the mouse, the shortcut always goes to the bottom of the list no matter where you tried to insert it. It's like Lucy and the football.

I just received FF23 about an hour ago.

Five or six years ago, the FF Bookmark Manager was the best, but it hasn't really been improved since then.

I have 20 MB of bookmarks (>50,000?) distributed amongst 7 FF profiles.

The "Sort By Name" function doesn't work once you exceed a certain number of bookmarks in a folder (I'm not sure what the number is).
It works in the Main Pane of the Bookmark Library (using the column headings) however this doesn't permanently reorder them.
Once the "magic number" is exceeded, it can't reorder the bookmarks in a folder (from the context menu).

When you search for a bookmark, you can't display the folder path of the result (without using a 3rd party add-on).

You can't "natively" detect duplicate bookmarks and prevent them from being added.
Worse than that, since FF22 "Bookmark Duplicate Detector" no longer functions.

I've not run into the limitations. I've only got a couple thousand bookmarks and three profiles, though. That said, I totally agree about spending resources on the "social" features. For example, they could make it easier for me to pin my three distinct icons on the taskbar for my profiles.

The classic Bookmarks menu is really not up to par on FF so I used "Plain Old Favorites" instead but from FF version 22.0 it doesn't work which sux. Got used to it since it came out. Also since v22.0 scrolling doesn't work like it used to, if the cursor is on an empty space, it would not scroll up and down. And no, it is not because of the system or drivers, it works just fine on other browsers and programs.

I suspect that the magic number is 999 or 1000.

I was using one of my other profiles (a few hours ago).
I had a folder with ~500 bookmarks and another with ~3000.
The "Sort By Name" function worked with the small folder, but not the large one.

    Regarding duplicate bookmarks
The star does indicate if a bookmark exists.
However the edit/review function doesn't work properly in Ubuntu or Linux Mint (it does work in Windows and Arch Linux).

If you have 100 tabs open and decide that you have need to bookmark them, it is a pain to check each tab individually before bookmarking them.

I don't ever use the Bookmarks menu for the same reasons I don't use the Windows Start Menu; it's cumbersome to navigate, it goes away when I select something from it, etc. I use the Bookmarks pane and Toolbar, which solve those issues much like pinning programs to the Windows taskbar does for Windows.

Do you have more programs than will fit at the top level?

It's cumbersome when you have to scroll through and/or navigate a tree each and every time you want to use it, because it goes away when you select something from it, and the nodes close up every time.
