    Gadgets and Win8

Just for "fun", installed a couple of Gadgets that I use in Win7 on the Desktop in Win8 -- and they worked OK!

So, is MS just not supporting new Gadgets for Win8? Or is this a "fluke" that will be "fixed" (so that gadgets will no longer work) in the next version of Win8?

Also, does anyone know if the existing gadgets can be redone to work as Tiles in Win87? Perhaps this will be the future role of Gadgets in Win8?

According to Microsoft they said “Microsoft is no longer supporting development or uploading of new Gadgets,” but the gadget is still working as if now on WDP. They may remove it in the release.

    Yep, Capt. Jack.

I'm still using my Clipboarder Gadget although the Aero on it is a bit odd.

Still, it works fine and I can still download it, even today, but, as you mentioned, that might change as things move to Beta and beyond.

I think gadgets will remain available from devs, and some folks I know would prob not be happy if their gadgets didn't work. As for the appearance, is easy to make a skin that looks like metro tile.
