Surface smartwatch

Microsoft’s Surface team has taken on development of the company’s upcoming smartwatch, it’s reported, with the wrist-worn gadget supposedly running a modified version of Windows 8. The Surface smartwatch is being built on an original design by the Xbox team, The Verge‘s sources claim, which had been tinkering with a “Joule” heart-rate monitor prototype for the Xbox 360.

Is there an interest for smart watches? I just don't see a future for these devices.

It seems like one of those things that will cause even nerdy folk to point and laugh at you.

Anything short of holographic projected UI's with these things and I'm passing.

Yeah, I haven't worn a watch in years because I carry a cell phone everywhere. These watches, until they can replace a smart phone, just aren't that useful..

But, just remember, nobody expects these things to be successful. They're research projects. And they're just one step in a long line of steps that may eventually lead to that. We didn't get to Smart phones from the Telegraph in one step, after all.
