For what I'd do on a device that small it doesn't need to be that powerful and that expensive.
You may find the ASUS VivoTab Smart - Tablets & Mobile - ASUS to be a good compromise.

It will be a while before I spend any money on a tablet. I just recently bought an ASUS K75DE and also upgraded it with two SSD's. That's pretty well killed my tech buying budget for a while.

This is very true. Hardware needs to catch up and it hasn't. Until some tablets are on the market with benefits of ULV Haswell and at better price points, people will unfortunately keep buying inferior tablets that are just giant ipods and phones because that's all they know and can afford.

We'll see what happens 6 mo. to a yr after such equipment is available.

There are lots of hybrids out there that will dock and be laptop like or undock and be tablet like. Get one powerful enough and you could likely ditch your desktop PC too. Just be prepared to pay a lot for that functionality. Too pricy for my budget which is why I bought a laptop.
Yes but still they are laptop, my personal taste, i prefer a "tablet becoming a desktop"
less weight to bring with me, same horsepower, i like this idea... just a matter of personal choice...

There are hybrids where the keyboard section disconnects leaving just the screen/tablet section. like this for example, Google Image Result for http://www.pclaunches.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/lenovo_ideapad_lynx.jpg

I'm wondering if anyone has tried ToolWiz Time Freeze or Time Machine on W8? It looks interesting. I'm reading the info for Time Machine but so far I see no mention of GPT. With rollback type stuff my biggest fear is that the rollback software will hose my system rather than the malware. :)
I want to make like a color changing background. One picture a lot of colors. I want to set background timer to 0.2 or what would fit for it to be smooth. Kind of like this : http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lzamr7NxJL1qjm5bto1_500.gif
