Windows 8.1 review - Still stupendously stupid

LOL.

Any of you who read Dedo will know he doesn't pull any punches. If you are an ardent 8 fan, perhaps better not read it.

Check this out- he is in agreement with what I have been posting for a long time:

For you geeks, it will only get worse ...more companies will find innovative ways of ruining the accepted, efficient workflows, just for the sake of money...you will see yet more forced online integration and similar crap cropping everywhere.

Then, it will become subscription based s***, with monthly fees and mandatory online check in ... ads in every program...You will not be able to install programs that were not pre-approved... it will happen slowly, so that people do not resist violently.

If you do not want to end up an anally probed guinea pig in the money labs, you will be wise to boycott this latest Microsoft operating system thing...it is an insult to intelligence, to poor people worldwide, and anyone with a basic sense of decency.

Final grade: FAIL. We're done.

Very funny.

This is a great line:

Windows 8.1 Preview is much better than Windows 8, I'll grant you that... However, better does not mean good. It's like saying it's better to have diarrhea twice a day than five times a day, but you're still knee deep in liquid muck.

I liked this quote :) :

Your Windows line of products will remain a failure on the desktop as long as you keep insisting on shoving the Metro crap on the users. People do not want to see colorful burgers flipping on their 24-inch screen, without being able to remember the position and state of their open applications

That was pretty funny and echoes many of my sentiments. I did, however, find a way to get around being forced to log in using an email account. During installation, don't connect to your wireless network if you're on one. If you're on a wired network, unplug the cable until after installation is totally complete. If you do either of these you will eventually asked to create a local account and bypass the other crap.

I have no plans to use Win 8 or 8.1, but maybe that will help someone else who does.

Sounds like the bad old days of installing basic XP, "don't connect to the Internet until you have installed your AV."
